Trends in online shopping
Sunday, April 6th, 2008Things are happening in online shopping, mostly on the women sites, centered on the necessity to bring forth the best deals for the modern woman. A while ago, I have developed a project Lady4ever.ro, which a blending of three major focus areas in nowadays site development: an editorial zone, with an extensive palette of topics (news included), a community based site (giving the users the possibility to post around the subjects of the site and of course their own troubles and tribulations
) and the most interesting one, a shopping engine. I’ve become a specialist in shopping engines (build up 4 until now:P). As a matter of fact, I was chatting the other day with a friend of mine, with which I have worked on this project and she said and I quote: “I remember you insisted heavily to combine the two zones, the articles zone with the products one”. And yes, I did.

I cannot see why other websites do not realize it, but shopping is such an important resource for a website. And putting shopping and relevant content together is like merging two websites that complete each other.
I have also seen that women communities are getting very excited over applications like trying on clothes in a virtual environment like the one used in my virtual model,

or simply having a model at your disposal in an online dressing room

everybody wants to get an idea about clothes and accessories before they buy them. I believe that online shopping is just swell, but trying the products first is much better.
You can accessorize first anyway and put together all you need for an inspirated outfit.

And in the end try on makeup.

Isn’t it amazing? All the gadgets you can think of and more just for online shopping. And to think of that none of them hasn’t got a shopping engine to support them! Hmm, I wonder why?
