Yahoo search shifts to semantic web

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Yahoo has announced that it will include web identifiers when indexing for search. This means that a new era is beginning, the one of identifying the meaning of data on a page and thus making it more relevant to a topic.

Amit Kumar, director of productAmit Kumar management for the Yahoo’s search site explained that by starting to include tags and descriptors will encourage users to use them in order to find more accurate data. He also announced that the Yahoo! Search platform will be open to all third party developers.

This is such a great news for web developers, an important step for Yahoo and an improvement commitment to open source standards. Keep up the good work guys! :)
