Some years have passed since the electronic books came into market. There were pros and cons, especially prophesies of doom, but after some years nothing happened. The publishing is still there still prosperous.

Now it seems that the e-book is starting to take off. We have examples like Amazon “kindle” e-book who sold out in the United States within a few hours on its first run iLiad e-book which is selling well and the much-appreciated Sony Reader is on the second edition now with lots of accessories.

Publishers are beginning to think seriously about their e-book strategy.

 More people start to profit on the joys of having a portable e-reader with them 24/7. People can read in bed, read on the go, on vacation, on the plain, train or bus.

It solves the problem of holiday reading when after the first week all you have left is “a battered copy of Vogue from three months ago and something on sale in the local boutique, written in German.”Now you can just nip down to the local internet connection and top up your reading.

But before you start a bonfire on your bookshelves, a word of caution.While in the US there are an increasing number of new books available online, publishers in Europe have been slow to release their books in an electronic format. Why is that? Are tey affraid that we would’t be interested? I am very sick and tired to want books which are not accesible in Romania, and I would enjoy greatelly to be able to just download them in secconds.

Well, dear publishers, when are u going to do something about our needs?
